On-line registration goes international

Foreign language capability added to RCS’ internet and on-site self registration services

Registration Control Systems (RCS) has added foreign language capabilities to its registration systems and services. Spanish speaking attendees at a recently concluded show were able to use the self-registration terminals in their native language. The welcome screen displayed flags of Spanish speaking countries. The registrant simply clicked on their national flag to complete their registration form. Future shows will have this capability for advance registration as well. RCS is working on adding French, Italian and German to the system as well as displaying the demographic and help screen information in these languages. RCS expects to have these languages available later this year.

"We have designed our system to be very flexible. This is an example of how RCS can adapt to our clients needs. Our client expressed a desire to make the on-site registration screens available in Spanish and we responded," says Sam Hamilton, Vice-President/Account Executive, RCS.

"Since 1995 when the Internet became a staple of our registration applications, we have recognized the need for a multi-language capability. Our development team put together a Spanish language application for our client that we will expand upon for future events," says Dan Zumtobel, VP-Sales & Marketing, RCS. "Our goal is to add French, German and Italian to our registration applications soon and then to concentrate on making all demographics available in these languages as well. Adding demographics will take longer to do because of translation challenges, as well as database needs. This is just some of the on-going development at RCS," says Dan.
