(Ventura, Calif.) – Registration Control Systems (RCS), a nationwide trade-show registration company, has announced that the new addition to their system, “eBadge Express Pass Registration", was successfully launched at the August 2002 Linux World Show in San Francisco.

The eBadge Express Pass Registration System is an innovative system that eliminates the need for trade show attendees to receive identification badges prior to events. This reduces time spent registering for the event by the attendees and significantly reduces the registration costs for show management. Instead of receiving badges before the trade show, attendees receive electronic confirmations that include a barcode along with other important registration information. Once they arrive at the show, registration materials are provided by scanning the barcode at the high speed RCS registration station. RCS is the first, and currently the only, trade show registration company utilizing this method for advance registration and on-site badge production.

The eBadge system successfully read and produced the credentials for over 99 percent of the Linux World eBadge confirmations that were scanned. “As with any new technology we had concerns, but this new system resulted in a much easier registration process for everyone involved. There is no doubt the RCS eBadge system organized and streamlined our advance registration process. It is a very valuable tool for a show with large advance production and mailing requirements,” says Linux World Registration Manager Debbie Diodati.

For shows that currently produce show credentials in advance the eBadge eliminates the pre-show production costs and the fees for postage and advance materials. In addition to these dramatic cost savings the eBadge system requires very little on-site equipment. The semi-automatic nature of the production of advance show credentials on-site not only is a benefit to shows that currently mail advance registration materials, it can be very useful to those shows that allow registration in advance but don't mail out badges. The speed of registration and the fact that shows can typically save more than 90 percent on their on-line registration costs makes this new technology valuable to all types of events.
